Get Ready for a Colourful Year!!






This school discovered really good artists in 4th Grade this academic year. So far, they dared to paint a copy of La Giconda, by Leonardo da Vinci. 

Did you hear from da Vinci before? Here you are some information about him:

It happened long long before there were cameras.

To have a portrait done you had to look for a painter.

Many portraits of important people are famous today.

Other painters wants to make a copy of famous portraits.

The copy can be as the same size as the original.

Or it can be larger or smaller.


By the way, do you know how to make a copy of a portrait?


We need:
Piece of paper
Ruler
Pencil
Coloured pencils
A bit of patience!

Making our own copy of La Gioconda!

Grids can be used to help make a copy of a portrait.

Copy the grid on a piece of paper as indicated.

Make your own copy by following the steps:

1. First, draw the grid on a piece of paper with a ruler.

2. Second, add the letters and numbers.

3. Then, draw the portrait on the grid as the model.

4. Finally, colour the portrait.


How good is their copy?
