It happened long long
before there were cameras.
To have a portrait done
you had to look for a painter.
Many portraits of
important people are famous today.
Other painters wants to
make a copy of famous portraits.
The copy can be as the
same size as the original.
Or it can be larger or
smaller.

of paper
• Ruler
• Pencil
• Coloured
pencils
• A bit of patience!

Grids can be used to help
make a copy of a portrait.
Copy the grid on a piece
of paper as indicated.
Make your own copy by
following the steps:
1. First, draw the grid
on a piece of paper with a ruler.
2. Second, add the
letters and numbers.
3. Then, draw the
portrait on the grid as the model.
4. Finally, colour the
portrait.
