"A Midsummer Night's Dream"

The play of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare was performed by the 4th Grade Students in 'CEIP. Lope de Vega', Casariche.

After 400 years, Shakespeare does still live in all around the world and all around all the communities.

The kids were so excited for the fact, and they did a really good job!!

This is the cast:

Demetrius and Helena:

Lysander and Hermia:

Titania:

Oberon:

Puck and Bottom:

Narrators:

The play was cut and simplified for the students. The summary of our own version is the one below:

"Lysander loves Hermia, and Hermia loves Lysander. Helena loves Demetrius; Demetrius used to love Helena but now loves Hermia. According to Athenian law, Hermia is given four days to choose between Demetrius, life in a nunnery, or, a death sentence. Hermia, ever defiant, chooses to escape with Lysander into the surrounding forest. Meanwhile, Helena and Demetrius have also fled into the woods after Lysander and Hermia.

Complications arise in the forest. Oberon and Titania, King and Queen of Fairies, have and argument. Oberon instructs his servant Puck to bring him a magic love drops, that will be sprinkled on the Queen's eyes as she sleeps. Titania will fall in love with the first creature she sees upon awakening.

Oberon, overhearing Demetrius's denouncement of Helena, takes pity upon her and tells Puck to place the magic drops upon the eyes of Demetrius, so Demetrius may fall in love with Helena. Puck, however, makes the mistake of putting the drops on the eyes of Lysander instead. Helena stumbles over Lysander in the forest, now, Lysander desires Helena and renounces Hermia.

In the midst of this chaos, a group of actors are rehearsing for a production in Athens. Puck casts a spell on Bottom to give him the head of a donkey. Bottom is the first thing Titania sees when she awakens. Oberon anoints Demetrius with the love potion and ensures that Helena is the first person he sees, however, Helena feels that she is being mocked by both: Demetrius and Lysander.

Finally, Oberon decides that all good sports must come to an end. He puts the four lovers to sleep and gives Lysander the antidote for the love potion, so he will love Hermia again when they all wake up. Oberon gives Titania the antidote, and the King and the Queen reconcile.

All return to Athens to make sense of what they think is a strange dream. However, Bottom is still in trouble, he looks himself and he realizes that he still looks like a donkey. The antidote for the love potion didn't make him return into a human. Puck is still thinking about how he did the cast, and he is still trying so hard to return Bottom to a human. Naughty Puck!!"
